History of a Translation Company

Cogitco Inc.'s history can be traced to its current president, founder and owner, Deborah Stupple, who created Deborah Stupple Communications in 1989 with the primary objective of providing excellent English translation services to her clients. Over time, the company grew and in 1997, she incorporated Cogitco Inc. with a dream and a desire to help change the translation industry in Canada. Through the use of computer assisted translation tools, mentoring and quality control, she has guided the company in creating new models to meet clients' needs and surpass expectations while achieving quality and consistency and maintaining high professional standards.

Key Milestones

Since its inception, the company has enjoyed significant growth and delivered services to a number of key clients, around which Cogitco has built its brand image in the language industry. Below is a list of Cogitco's key milestones.

1989 -	Deborah Stupple Communications, established in Montreal as a French-to-English translation service, with the addition of a second employee soon after.
1993 -	English-to-French services added.
1997 -	Ms. Stupple takes steps to turn Cogitco into an influential company in the languages industry.
2000 -	Cogitco expands, moving to new offices on Notre-Dame Street and hiring an additional translator.
2001 -	Growth Plan is drafted, which defines renewed business development strategy with a strong technological component.
2002 -	Further growth with the addition of a second professional in-house English translator and project manager.
2005 -	Selected freelancers gain eligibility for 'employee benefits' package, including mentoring, as 'Cogitco associate translators'. This recognizes the important role they have at Cogitco and fosters a sense of belonging.
2006 -	January: Further expansions to the in-house staff with the addition of a French translator and project manager. July: Enhancement of Cogitco's website, which will now offer a platform for clients to upload translation requests and monitor work in progress.
